BRILLIANT freaking advertising for Aboslut Vodka. EAT THAT DIDDY! hahaha. 2 weeks away from launch. Must be 21 to enjoy BeKanye.

Is BeKanye right for YOU?

For everyone playing catch up like Heinz, back in FEB this news was released:

"I have a lot of respect and admiration for a brand that was so ahead of its time in terms of seeing the value of collaborating with the creative community to express a unique vision of ABSOLUT. This is a brand that has worked with the pre-eminent artists of the 20th Century -- Tom Ford, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Helmut Newton. These are individuals who have inspired me in my work, and I feel honored to be a part of this legacy," said Kanye West. "What I'm most excited about is the opportunity to help push ABSOLUT in even more scintillating ways through a collaboration that puts me both in front of and behind the camera."

I hope they aren't mad, but me and my crew had some goose right before the concert :)

Triple Threat: Music, Art, Fashion: Exact Science

Slow music day, so I'm gonna drop some more gems before I head to my local Niketown because today is payday, and I need to feel better about my life as I just got a call saying that the new transmission arrived today, but was DAMAGED, so they have to ship out for some new parts and it'll probably be another 2 weeks because this weeks a short week with the holiday. WHACK ATTACK!

Moving on to the good shit though: this post is sort of... a combination of Okay ... PLAYER, Local Link-ups, and New Music. Triple Threat bidges!

If you haven't heard of exact science, well... I'm sorry. Fashion, Art, and Music all on their blog at www.exact-science.com and I can get down with that.

This reminds me of a blog Top Flite had a while back (musta been like a year ago) about how some model only demanded to be paid in euros (which turned out to be false) due to the declining value of the dolla dolla bill ya'll. Which led Mike to say he was going to demand to be paid in Euros forever. Hilarity indeed. I smell an early christmas present for Mike coming up. haha.

Dude, sometimes I think an emotionless, random, programed robot could play better songs than some of our Seattle Club DJ's. This is Illie!

Role Model: DMX Arrested AGAIN!!

No, I know he was arrested last week too, I just didn't blog it. Because let's face it, this is getting to be constant monday morning news. But he was arrested AGAIN over the weekend for trying to buy coke and marijuana in Miami.

I'm not sure which mug shot to post up.

Oh and here's one of those speed cameras in Arizona I think it was that caught our role model doing 100 in a 65 on the freeway.

and one more while in the process of being arrested. That's all I can find for now, but I'm sure this newest one will surface.

HHDX has plenty more information if you desire. Lord give him a sign.

Nas Inks Deal With ... FILA!

Fila will offer reciprocal financial support for Nas’ print and TV ad campaign as well as his upcoming tour in support of his untitled album, due July 15 via Def Jam. In return, the MC will wear Fila products and co-create an apparel line that draws from fashions of the late ’80s.

“My best friend Will and I loved Fila,” Nas tells Billboard. “It represented prestige and everything that was cool to us. When Will passed, we buried him in a black Fila sweat suit, so doing a deal with them has a lot of significance for me.”
According to Fila president John Epstein, it was a natural match. “One of my executives spotted Nas shopping in our Manhattan store and struck up a conversation with him,” Epstein says. “Nas isn’t interested in selling out. He’s interested in being true, and that fits with our brand.”

Nostalgia aside, some may view Epstein as brave to co-brand his company with an MC who’s pledged to unpack America’s racial struggles.

“I had some trepidation, and then I started talking to 16- to 20-year-old kids in focus groups,” Epstein says. “They looked at me like I was crazy for not understanding his message of positive change. Nas is relevant to his followers and I don’t have to understand it as long as they do.”

Damn, they sure did get rid of Hurricane Chris REAL FAST! lmao! I remember I had a pair of Fila's in middle school. I thought it was the coolest sneakers ever, but apparently it wasn't the hip thing them days.

A Fresh BreakDown - G-Unit: T.erminate O.n S.ight

" Nobody gonna miss you anyway, no days off keep the pistol everyday!!"

Just an ironic quote from the song "No Days Off" that's in the CD.  (Oh yea, my boy Ferrari F. 50 makes an appearance in that song too!  Lol, so you know I'm lovin' it.)  Anyway....

This CD starts off with an NWA kinda vibe with the track "Straight Outta SouthSide."  It's like a re-introduction, and everybody gets off on this song.  Yea, even Yayo, and this song really suits our yellin'-all-tha-time rapper.  He gets off  on the up-tempo military-minded beat.  Since it's a compilation CD, I'll break the CD down by the rapper, and since I mentioned Yayo 1st, I'll roll with Yayo.  Do you remember, back in the day, when we were jus hearin' Yayo on "I Smell Pussy."  We thought he was pretty smooth, then we thought otherwise when he got out?  Well, alil' bit of both shows itself in the CD.  His presence helps him alot in these songs, not so much the lyrics, and bein' this is G-Unit, you know it's gonna be alotta murkin' in this CD.  So Yayo gets off on songs like "Casualties of War" (I Mean REALLY, gets off) "Nigga who you tryna ride on, I'ma Icon, heart made of steel, balls made of iron."  Don't sound like much readin' it I'm sure, but wait till you hear it 1st.  Then it's those moments where he's doin' just enough to get by like in songs like "You So Tough," or the single "I Like The Way She Do It."  But damn, who's gonna forget "I make a dolla every time my heart beats..."  Jeeze mayne.  And Its jus those songs where it's the Yayo where we wonder how in fucks name he's even not cut from the song.  I mean..  It jus sounds weird when you start ya verse off wit "Who who who who who want it?!  Who who who who who who want it?!" Like he did on the song T.O.S.  But Overrall, Yayo did a good job as far as I'm concerend, one member didn't take down the quality of the CD.  He even did a pretty nice job on a hook "Money Make the World Go Round."

Now, off to Mr. B-A-N-K-Dollasign $.... Well, what you want me to say?  He came whack?!  You must be stupid if you even thought about that thought!  It's obvious he gets off the most on the CD.  Slick lines all throughout the CD, n when he gets a chance at a hook, he doesn't slack up.  No lazy Lloyd when he's on T.O.S. mode, and a few rap artists catch it with this, "Look how the game changed, it's bad for the system, niggas on game shows, two dudes kissin', listen, we're not the same, we're not for fame, the industry's punked out, we're not to blame."

Next would be the man we all know, love, hate, wanna kill, wanna steal cash from, wanna invest in his money, Curtis Jackson.  Now after his big industry scuffle with Kanye, which he lost as far as in the US ( He actually had more sales outside the states,) whether Fif likes it or not, people are lookin at this CD like another 50 Cent CD.  So the big question is, does the boss orchestrate a good CD, does he look crazy without the help of Young Buck?  Well, if he had 100% control of  production he did a pretty nice job, as far as subject matter, we couldn't expect more than what it was, a few club bangers, lotta kill-a-nigga songs, n some stuntin' kinda songs.  Now on to the important shit, does 50 come through with in the verses?  For the most part yes.  I mean, what can I say but it's either good fif, bad fif, or Ferrari F 50.  And Ferrari F 50 makes two appearances on the CD, and I don't give a fuck what anybody says, when Ferrari F makes an appearance the whole song is better.  But 50 does throw out a few lines towards T.I. and he really asks a question that alot of us (includin' me,) were wonderin'.  On The up-beat grimey soundin' song "You So Tough" Fif goes on to say "What's todays mathematics?  Shit ain't addin' up, get knocked wit 10 machine guns, only get 12 months...  I got the best money lawyers can buy, they say they woulda got me ten, maybe nine. How can you explain how homie breeze, you keep ya mouf shut, or ya eat the cheese!"  Yea...  You know 50 comes with occasional stingers like his opener on "Casualties Of War" he says "Now how did the chicken give birth to the rat, now how did the rat learn how to sing like a bird, his pops is an O.G., this is absured!!"

So to put it bluntly, 50 did a good job makin' a well roudned CD, with great production.  Maybe if he woulda took out a few club songs, n talked 'bout somethin' original, or if he woulda dissed Buck or some shit, it woulda been a more eye poppin' album.  But the CD shows how Banks flow keeps him ahead of the pack lyrically.  (Unless it's Ferrari F.)  Lol.

Album Ratin' - 4.1
Worth Buyin' - Sure, why not?
Favorite Songs - No Days Off, Straight Outta SouthSide, Close To Me, Casualties Of War, You So Tough, Let It Go, Ready Or Not, Money Make the World Go Round

Grandmaster Flash Interview in Newsweek

An excellent interview with Joseph Saddler in Newsweek.

NEWSWEEK: Describe your childhood obsession with records. How far did it go?
Grandmaster Flash: Whenever dad would go off to work, I'd wait for the door to slam and I'd grab a record and turn on the stereo. Eventually, my dad would scratch his head and be like, "Have any of you been going through my records?" He'd ask everyone, and by the time he got to me, I was so terrified you'd think the word "yes" was written on my forehead. I'd get my brains beat out of me, sometimes until I was unconscious. Then he'd put my hands on the radiator and burn them, in hopes that it would keep me out of the closet. But it only peaked my interest more.

They go on to ask him about how modern technology has changed hip-hop and what he thinks about digital turntables. Read the rest at NEWSWEEK: Don't stop the beat.

Obama's Rolling Stone Cover

Spotted at msnbc where they have a preview of the rolling stone article detailing a little bit about Obama's musical tastes, and then googled the cover.

He said hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and rappers Jay-Z and Ludacris were "great talents and great businessmen."

"It would be nice if I could have my daughters listen to their music without me worrying that they were getting bad images of themselves," he added.

Obama appears on the cover of the magazine, which endorsed him for president in March.

Okay...Japanese Night Club Owners..but Something LIKE a robot...Shiiiiiiiiiit.

New Obama Ad

This has started running in 19 states. Haven't seen it in WA yet, but we're obviously all democrats out here, and we all votin for any democrat no matter who it is. So he prolly just gonna stop out here once or twice to visit the space needle and look at the pea soup and talk about depression or something while we give him some cash. Cuz it ain't like he's got to work hard for our vote.

Call of Duty: World at War Trailer

shiiiit. I still play COD 4 DAILY. I didn't get into the first 3 as much as this one, mostly cuz old school weapons are whack. lol. But this might teeter on the edge of modern ness to play for me.

Hopefully they fixed some of the COD 4 bugs (like the knife attack from like ten feet away, and cursor turning red when you aim at someone through a wall.) But even if they don't. I'll probably still check it out.

Kanye Responds to Bonnaroo Debacle

Read the blog in it's entirety at his blog of course.

Almost everyone was lip singing, or in DJ KHALED's case, Lip Hyping... (I forget what Mike called it. lol)

The sound production and quality was HORRIBLE throughout the night. Everyone who was actually singing's voice was wayyyy too loowww. You couldn't hear a damn thing.

Things that stood out: T-Pain moving in slow motion? Wtf?

The Chris Brown / Ciara set with the water and shapes was dope. Definitely stealing that for a work presentation. Although they got a little riskay with it lol.

Kanye bringing Weezy up on stage with him after Kanye won best male hip-hop artist of the year.

I'm not sure why BET thought half their viewers would even know who al green was or the rest of the soul singers performing. But they all held it down for sure that was the best part to me. Including WARREN SAPP! THE HOST DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHO HE WAS LOL!!!

Warren Sapp

Marvin Sapp

Small difference.

What else...

Ne-yo came with the Jabbawockeez. They're the newest for performances, Jacking that for a work presentation too.

Why did it feel like there was nooooobbody there. The director kept turning to the same people for reaction shots: Kanye, three six, Bun b, Lil Wayne, Diddy, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown and his bitch and like noooobody else.

Alicia Keys bringing out SWV, en vogue and TLC was a good look. But again... people that actually sing at their performance = no love from BET because the volume stayyyyyyyyyyssssss down.

MC Lyte needs to stay out of the spotlyte. Her agent is working double time to get her gigs lately and she's pretty annoying to me. Good music. Annoying host/announcer.

Anyway, Recap Final Grade: C

Half the people weren't around for their awards acceptances, The performances were either faked or so turned down you couldn't hear anything over the beat. The scripting was terrible. Sets and designs and logos were half assed.

Pictures, Videos and More to come later of course. Nothing gets posted on youtube within the first 5 minutes of the show ending. Peace to the gods!

Yeah... I shoulda made this post earlier. I was actually busy at work today. What a thought.

Anyway, I'ma be watching mostly for work purposes to come up with cool stages and performance ideas. But it should be entertaining to see Yeezy blow up when he doesn't win something again. lol.

U-N-I Upset at Nelly's Stepped on My J's Video

Anyone who's anyone, knows U-N-I's Classic Sneaker Anthem "K.R.E.A.M." U-N-I is upset at Nelly for confirming he saw their video and wanted to use the same ideas. Here's the two videos in question:

Nelly- Stepped on My J's

My personal opinion: He's come out and acknowledged it. What's the controversy? Now I'm the first person to say, Nelly could be out giving more publicity to U-N-I and should be. I just don't think it's something to be upset about. Expect BOO's for Nelly @ the BET AWARDS TONIGHT.

P.S. What's with Ciara's Ankle Monitor or whatever? lol. Mike pointed it out to me yesterday. I guess I was never lookin at her ankles before...

Shaq Disses Kobe in Rap Song

Shaq Attacks Kobe: You Ruined My Marriage!

TMZ has a new exclusive video with Shaq ripping the mic and dissing Kobe Bryant claiming he ruined his marriage. This is crucial! lol.

Shaquille O'Neal took the mic at a NYC club last night, unleashing a freestyle verbal assault directed at his arch-enemy Kobe Bryant -- blaming his former teammate for ruining his marriage and imploring him to "Tell me how my ass tastes."

After spending several verses shredding Kobe apart for losing in the NBA playoffs, Shaq drops the line, "I'm a horse, Kobe ratted me out, that's why I'm getting divorced."

The line most likely references a comment Kobe made during his infamous 2003 rape case, when he told Colorado police that he "Should have done what Shaq does ... Shaq would pay his women not to say anything." The two became famously bitter rivals after the incident.

Shaq Attack at TMZ

UPDATE: Download - Shaq - Kobe, Tell Me How My Ass Tastes

Update 2:
Shaq Tells ESPN it's all jokes

Reached by ESPN's Stephen A. Smith on Monday, O'Neal issued the following statement: "I was freestyling. That's all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever. That is what MC's do. They freestyle when called upon. I'm totally cool with Kobe. No issue at all. And by the way, don't forget, six albums, two platinum, two gold. Anybody who knows me knows I'm a funny freestyler. Check the NBA DVD when I was rapping about Vlade Divac during my first championship run. Please tell everybody don't make something out of nothing."

Ladies Loves is NOW HeR Favorite!

Sorry to my sexy ladies out there. WE DID NOT leave you without! We just changed the name.
